Can you stop making sense?

Not everything we do has a clear and coherent explanation, nor do our actions always stay linear and straightforward. Are you willing to delve into your mix of conflicting emotions and wishes – and allow them all to be there? Can you accept the inner juxtapositions others may have, too?

You might feel confident and scared at the same time. You might strive to be fair but suddenly find yourself less so because it clashes with other wishes or values you have. You may want to be both out and at home, exercising and out drinking. (And you may ask yourself: How did I get here?)

Our brains can struggle a lot with these things – they like order, context, categorisation and a clear story narrative. So you may ask yourself: How do I work this? Sometimes, we may post-rationalise so everything fits neatly together. At other occasions, we tie ourselves in knots with supposedly rational ‘shoulds’ when reality is a blur of complex emotions. It’s true that we do what we do (and don’t do) for a reason – but the reasons can be contradictory.

What happens if you acknowledge this and allow it?
