What makes you feel alive?

What makes you feel fully alive? Fulfilled? These questions have been at the front of my mind this weekend as I’m part of the ‘back-of-the-room’ team as an assistant on Fulfillment, the first part of the core curriculum of the Co-Active Training Institute.

It’s a privilege to witness emerging coaches first grapple with and then increasingly confidently use new tools and skills – and discovering what they themselves need to feel fulfilled in the process.  Sharing the experience with amazing leaders and fellow assistants brings additional joy and delight.

When I was contemplating aliveness on Friday, the moment in my kayak when I took this picture came to mind. I’ve travelled to see and be in awe of whales in various places in the years since, but there’s something in this moment that etched it in my soul as pure aliveness. Perhaps it was the remoteness of the location, the stillness in the kayak or the sheer number of humpbacks feeding around us. Of course I don’t have these moments every day, but it tells me something about what I need in my life to feel fulfilled, on whatever scale I can get it.

What was a moment when you felt fully alive? What does it reveal to you about what you need to make you fulfilled?
