When do you let your guard down?

It’s worth remembering that on the whole, most people have good intentions. Even where the risk of crime is high, you’re more likely not to become a victim. Even when you believe a colleague is doing something to undermine you, that might not be what it's about at all.
Over the past few months, I’ve rented a lot of Airbnb rooms in people’s homes. I’ve done this quite consciously – meeting the hosts is part of getting to know a place. It takes you closer.
Not only have my hosts been kind, gracious, generous and fun. They’ve also told me that their bad experiences with guests are very few and far between.
Of course, there can be stranger danger when we’re out and about. It’s best not to be naïve. But it’s far more likely that the stranger is just as human and kind as you are.
Furthermore, how we choose to act when we meet others – be they strangers, colleagues or friends - affects their reaction to us, in turn.
What kind of meetings do you want to enable?
